Zelenskyy, Scholz discuss joint production of weapons

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed joint production of weapons at a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state said.

"The issues discussed at the meeting included the implementation of the bilateral security agreement and possible areas for expanding cooperation in the defense industry, in particular joint production of weapons," the president's website said on Friday.

The leaders paid special attention to the implementation of the Peace Formula. Zelenskyy thanked Scholz for his personal participation in the first, inaugural Peace Summit. The parties discussed the implementation of its decisions and preparations for the Second Summit.

Zelenskyy reportedly met with Scholz during a visit to Germany.

The head of the Ukrainian state informed about the situation on the front and the consequences of Russian missile terror against Ukrainians and critical infrastructure.

Zelenskyy thanked Scholz for all the comprehensive assistance, especially military, that Ukraine has received since the beginning of the Russia full-scale invasion. "Thank you for the unwavering nature of these supplies. This is crucial. This is the foundation of our successful struggle for the independence of Ukraine. Thank you for your leadership in strengthening our air defense, which saves the lives of Ukrainians," the president said.

The head of the Ukrainian state said the German government has ordered additional air defense systems of various configurations to strengthen the Armed Forces, as well as the decision to transfer additional Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled guns and Leopard 1A5 tanks to Ukraine, announced at a meeting in the Ramstein format.
