Stefanishyna on path to EU: number one task to be ready for next political decision
Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna believes that on the path to joining the European Union, Ukraine's main task is to be ready for the next political decision.
"I think that the main subsequent tasks that we have are to make sure that we do not lose a single political moment for decision-making. And after the start of official accession negotiations, which began in June, this will require additional steps - mobilizing political will in order to implement political transformations and reforms," she said during a public discussion on "The process of Ukraine's accession to the EU: how to move effectively and quickly" in Kyiv on Monday.
According to her, the amount of work that will need to be done will only grow, but Ukraine is ready for this.
She stressed that in addition to political will, it is necessary to "open all chapters and clusters, as well as go through the process of screening legislation," which will require a significant period of time.
At the same time, she stressed that Ukraine is not a newcomer to the process of European integration, as there is a ten-year experience of the Association Agreement with the EU.
"We don't have a decade or many decades. We are a young country of people who made a choice, defended it during the Revolution of Dignity, and are now defending it on the front line," Stefanishyna stressed.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that the number one task is to make sure that "we are ready for the next political decision."
