It will be possible to launch funded pension system only after victory, but infrastructure to be ready before 2025 – Zholnovych

Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Oksana Zholnovych has said that the government will prepare the entire infrastructure for the funded pension system until 2025, but if the war continues, it will be possible to launch it only after victory.

"I think that this will be real, because now the draft bill is almost ready for us to work on the design of the funded pension reform. I will say right away that it will be possible to launch it by collecting contributions only after victory, otherwise there will be no way to invest these funds," Zholnovych said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine, answering a question about the possibility of launching a funded pension system in 2025.

At the same time, the minister said that before the launch it is necessary to carry out a lot of organizational actions: create a state savings fund, build a structure, create a digital program that will administer all this, and plan everything correctly.

To a clarifying question, if the war still continues until 2025, would it be possible to start savings, Zholnovych said that the government will do everything to ensure that all the infrastructure is ready by that time. "We really hope that the war will not drag on, but it's difficult to predict now," she added.

As reported, in September, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the authorities plan to launch the funded pension system in 2025.
