Novus, Varus remove Bonduelle products from shelves due to scandal because of provision of Russian military

The chain retailers Novus and Varus refuse to sell the products of the French company Bonduelle because of information about its support for Russian aggression in Ukraine by providing canned vegetables to the Russian military, who are mobilized to be sent to war in Ukraine.

Information about the boycott of Bonduelle products by retail chains is posted on the Facebook pages of the retailers, while Novus also removes Greenfield tea from sale, as its production and owners are also associated with the Russian Federation.

"For well-known reasons, we are removing the Bonduelle and Greenfield products from the Novus shelves. Well, the abandonment of the brand is an occasion to get to know Ukrainian manufacturers that produce high-quality and tasty products. For example, a great alternative at a nice price is private label products Novus and Marka Promo," the company wrote.

"The Varus supermarket chain has already begun to remove Bonduelle products from sales from the shelves of its supermarkets. Despite Bonduelle's denial of information about the support of the Russian army, the company continues to operate in the market of the aggressor country. Varus stops selling Bonduelle products," the Varus network clarifies.

In addition, on January 5, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention of Ukraine called for sanctions against the French manufacturer of frozen and canned vegetables Bonduelle due to a scandal with humanitarian aid for the Russian army.

"This year begins with a new goal of sanctions. Bonduelle Group has received a well-deserved dose of infamy and has already become a sponsor of an international war. Thanks to the world for its unprecedented support," the report says.

In addition, according to the agency, the company has already been included in the International War Sponsor list. Companies included in it officially receive the status of high-risk and are subject to enhanced checks by Western banks and financial institutions.
