Synchronization of Ukrainian IPS with ENTSO-E indicates extraordinary cooperation between parties – European commissioner for energy

Synchronization of the power grids of Ukraine and Moldova with the Continental European Grid help Ukraine to keep their electricity system stable and in general it is a historic milestone for the EU-Ukraine relationship, European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson has said.

"This project has shown extraordinary cooperation and determination from everyone involved," Simson said, quoted by the EU Delegation to Ukraine in a press release on Wednesday.

At the same time, she thanked "the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO E) for doing a year's work in two weeks to make this happen," as well as "the French Presidency of the Council and Member States for their support to this project that is not without risks."

Simson also expressed her gratitude to the Ukrainian partners, in particular, Minister of Energy Herman Haluschenko and National Power Company Ukrenergo, pointing out that they made heroic efforts in keeping the Ukrainian energy systems working in the middle of a terrible war.

"The EU will continue to support Ukraine in the energy sector, by ensuring the reverse flows of gas to the country and the delivery of energy supplies that are badly needed," Simson said.

She also expressed her hope to continue excellent cooperation on the green transition and market reforms in the future.

As reported, on March 16, the Ukrainian power grid was merged with the European one, proving its stability and reliability in the most difficult conditions of military aggression by the Russian Federation, Board Chairman of NPC Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytsky said.
