Rada extends moratorium on payment of Donetsk Railways' debts by Ukrzaliznytsia

Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has extended a moratorium on resources to the assets of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia under obligations of state-owned enterprise Donetsk Railways and other enterprises of the railway transport, which property is located on the territory of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) for the period of the JFO.

"This, first of all, concerns the debts of Donetsk Railways, the assets of which remained in government uncontrolled territory, and the succession in respect of which Ukrzaliznytsia has never received," MP Yaroslav Dubnevych (Petro Poroshenko Block parliamentary faction) said, commenting on bill No. 9069 dated October 18, 2018.

MP Maksym Burbak (Popular Front faction) recalled that since February 2017, a similar law was in force that introduced this moratorium for the period of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO), however, due to the replacement of the ATO with the JFO, it was necessary to update it.

According to him, these are obligations worth about $200 million.

As reported, the creditors of Donetsk Railways consider Ukrzaliznytsia to be the legal successor of the Donetsk Railways and demand that the company repays the obligations of the railway.
