Ukrnafta gets first conclusions on environmental impact assessment within new legislation

The Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration has issued a conclusion to PJSC Ukrnafta that confirm the environmental safety and rationality of the company's hydrocarbon production activities at the Pasichnianske, Dovbushansko-Bystrytske and Lukvynske fields, the company's press service has reported.

Obtaining conclusions on environmental impact assessment (EIA) became mandatory for extractive industry companies from December 18, 2017 after the adoption of the law on environmental impact assessment.

To obtain EIA conclusions, Ukrnafta has collected all the necessary materials, including on the general technical characteristics of the deposits, the technologies used, the volume of hydrocarbon production. Based on this information, the company held public presentations and discussions with the public.

"In general, the company had held 11 public discussions regarding EIA by the end of April ... Ukrnafta received agreement from the communities on all the EIAs that passed the stage of public hearings. Public discussions in these areas continue," the press service said.
