ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih suffers losses due to restrictions in traditional sales markets

PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region) because of restrictions in traditional sales markets suffered losses and was forced to redirect supplies to other markets.

"Generally speaking, our losses in the traditional sales markets amounted to about 1.5 million tonnes of rolled metal. We had to redistribute these volumes and reorient them to other directions, which was not easy due to the logistics remoteness of new markets. But I should mention that the marketing and sales team managed to quickly restructure sales and find alternative solutions," CEO of the company Paramjit Kahlon said.

According to him, in 2017 competition intensified, the main point was the cost of production.

"Unfortunately, we lost competitiveness in CIS markets, today they are filled with goods of Russian producers. The second thing is that access for Ukrainian producers was restricted in many markets, including our enterprise. The governments of some countries introduced anti-dumping (increased) duties on imported products, including Ukrainian. In particular, it happened in Egypt, the United States, and other countries. Of course, it also affected the volumes of sales of our products," the company head said.
