Govt starts selecting international partners for joint management of Ukrainian GTS

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine starts selecting international partners for joint management of the Ukrainian gas transport system (GTS).

The decision was made by the government at a Wednesday meeting.

According to the decision of the government, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry jointly with the Foreign Ministry are to notify potential partners – operators of gas transport systems of other countries about the start of the tender within 10 days.

After consultations with potential partners the rules of the tender will be designed.

The government also created a working group headed by Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion. The group would look for international partners. The group also includes the energy and coal industry minister, state secretary of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry, a member of the supervisory board of Naftogaz Ukrainy, the acting board chairman of Trunk Gas Pipelines of Ukraine, the acting head of the parliamentary committee for the fuel and energy complex, a member of the National Commission for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER), representatives of the European Commission, the Energy Community Secretariat and the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers created public joint-stock company Trunk Gas Pipelines of Ukraine, which would be authorized to fulfill functions of the operator of the Ukrainian GTS.
