Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili have discussed cooperation in trade and economic spheres, pointing out the aspiration of the two countries to boost goods turnover between the countries to at least $1 billion in the near future.

The press service of the Ukrainian president reported on Tuesday that during a state visit to Georgia the Ukrainian president held talks with the Georgian prime minister and thanked Georgia for solid and extensive support of Ukraine and provision of humanitarian assistance in rehabilitation of Ukrainian military servicemen and recreation of children suffered from the hostilities in Donbas.

The press service said that Poroshenko and Kvirikashvili said that it is important to deepen multilaterally cooperation to de-occupy territories of Ukraine and Georgia.

"It has been arranged to unite efforts in implementing strategic partnership between Ukraine and Georgia as part of the Declaration signed during the visit. This concerns the operations of repeatedly created Ukrainian-Georgian Strategic High-Level Council," the press service said.

The Ukrainian president and the Georgian prime minister discussed a wide range of issues of the bilateral agenda.

"Main attention was paid to sectoral cooperation, first of all in trade and economic spheres. The sides seek to reach goods turnover of at least $1 billion in the near term," the press service said.

The sides view favorably the Ukrainian-Georgian business forum and pointed out the importance of increasing effectiveness of working groups of the Ukrainian-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation.
