New car sales in Ukraine in January-May 2017 increased by 33% compared to the same period in 2016, to 29,500 units, according to the AUTO-Consulting information and analytical group.

As reported, in January-April the increase in the car market was 29.6% compared to the same period last year, in January-March the figure stood at 35%.

According to the group, in May some 6,500 new cars were sold, which is 47% more than in the same month last year.

"Despite a large number of holidays, the May figure is only 1.8% worse than in April, which is more active for business processes," AUTO-Consulting said.

Toyota retained the first position in sales in May (the market share of 13.6%), Renault ranked second (11.7%), while Skoda, launching the sales of new Kodiaq crossovers, was third with 49%.

A rapid growth in May was recorded in Peugeot car sales (the eighth place against 14th in April). Its dealers successfully started trading in new products: a renewed Peugeot 301 sedan and a Peugeot 3008 crossover.
