Ukrainian Health Ministry preparing vaccines procurement contract for 2016 state budget funds

The Ministry of Health is preparing a contract for the procurement of vaccines through such international organizations as UNDP and UNICEF for the funds of the 2016 state budget.

This was reported by Acting Health Minister of Ukraine Ulana Suprun at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"In 2016 we will procure vaccines through UNICEF and UNDP and prepare orders," she said.

According to Suprun, all the vaccines that were procured for the funds of the 2015 state budget would have been supplied into the country until the end of September.

"Vaccines have been purchased and delivered to Ukraine. Go to your doctors and vaccinate your children," Suprun said.

In turn, UNICEF representative in Ukraine Giovanna Barberis said there is sufficient number of vaccines for vaccination.

"This amount is enough for routine vaccination for the period of four or six months. There are no reasons to postpone vaccination anymore," she said.

Barberis also stressed that the UNICEF is completing the process of contracts making to supply vaccines for the funds of the state budget of 2016.

"We will immediately begin procurement of vaccines for 2016," Suprun said.

According to Barberis, UNICEF has invested its own resources to ensure the delivery of the vaccine to Ukraine having spent $825,000 for logistics.

"This investment has enabled the government of Ukraine to save these funds and send them for the procurement," she noted.
