Ukrainian-German chamber of commerce to start functioning this autumn - Poroshenko

The Ukrainian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry is to start functioning in autumn 2016, and the ninth meeting of the Ukraine-Germany High Level Group on Economic Cooperation will be held soon, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.

The president's press service reported that Poroshenko had a meeting with delegation of Secretaries of State of Federal Ministries of Germany arrived in Ukraine within the mission of the German government on the provision of assistance in the implementation of reforms. Poroshenko expressed gratitude to Germany for its financial and technical assistance.

"The head of state urged German business to use the advantages of the Ukraine-EU Association and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement more actively. According to him, Ukraine is interested in enhancing economic and investment presence of Germany. The president is hopeful to expand bilateral trade relations," the press service said.

Poroshenko said that the Ukraine-Germany Trade-Industrial Chamber will become an important instrument for the enhancement of economic cooperation.

Poroshenko informed the German delegation on the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities aimed at profound reformation of the judiciary.

The president said that the constitutional amendments on justice and the law the judicial system and the status of judges recently approved by the Verkhovna Rada would allow rebooting the judicial branch of power using the best European practices.

The representatives of the German delegation praised the establishment of new anti-corruption bodies that will contribute to the strengthening of the rule of law and improve the quality of the state apparatus of Ukraine.
