Coal stocks at Ukraine's TPPs slightly down over week

Coal stocks in the warehouses of thermal power plants (TPP) in Ukraine in the period from January 4 to January 11 had decreased by 0.2%, or by 4,300 tonnes, from 2.270 million tonnes to 2.265 million tonnes, Ukrenergo reported on its website.

In particular, the stocks of anthracite coal amounted to 916,600 tonnes (of which 141,600 tonnes at Luhansk TPP), G and D grade coal to 1.349 million tonnes (of which 288,100 tonnes at Burshtyn TPP).

The stocks as of January 11, 2016 exceeded the stocks in the warehouses of TPPs as of January 11, 2015 by 1.6 times (by 953,800 tonnes).

Ukrenergo said that in the morning of January 11 a total of 37 coal power units and one fuel oil power unit at the thermal power plants of generating companies with a capacity of 6.962 GW were operating. The nuclear power plants (NPPs) had a capacity of 11.163 GW, hydroelectric power plants 1.386 GW, combined heat and power plants 2.315 GW, and alternative energy units 174 MW.
