Ukrainian specialists to prepare recommendations on changing flight safety rules, hand them over to the Netherlands, ICAO – minister

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, head of the ad hoc governmental commission investigating the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 crash Hennadiy Zubko has said that Ukrainian specialists will prepare their proposals on toughening flight safety rules and standards and hand them over to the Netherlands and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The press service of the deputy prime minister reported that Zubko announced this after a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Dutch Safety Board (DSB) Erwin Muller, MH17 Investigation Commission Head Gijsbert Vogelaar, and DSB General Secretary M. Visser.

Zubko said that the urgent task for the entire civilized world is creation recommendations which would make any repetition of the MH17 tragedy impossible. He said that the designing of the recommendations should be coordinated by all other parties of the technical investigation.

He also said that Ukraine will continue its tight cooperation with the Netherlands.

Zubko reiterated that the investigation into what caused the MH17 tragedy by the DSB has finished.

"The report drawn up by Dutch specialists contains the detailed analysis of how the plane flew over Ukraine and the conclusion what was the reason of its crash. According to the report, the crash was as a result of a warhead detonation, a warhead launched by the BUK surface-to-air missile system," reads the report.

All other possible causes of the catastrophe were considered and rejected during the investigation.

It is especially important that the results of the investigation coincide with the investigation by independent expert institutions of Ukraine and the Netherlands.
