Coal stocks at Ukraine's power plants grow by 2.4% in one week – Ukrenergo

Coal stocks held in the warehouses of Ukrainian thermal power plants (TPPs) from October 5 to October 12, 2015 increased by 2.4% or by 47,200 tonnes, to 2.055 million tonnes, according to a national joint-stock company Ukrenergo report.

Anthracite stocks during the period totaled 988,100 tonnes (453,200 tonnes at Luhansk TTP) and gas and short-flame coal – 1.067 million tonnes (including 250,100 tonnes at Burshtyn TPP).

Ukrenergo said that in the morning on October 12, 35 coal power units and one fuel oil power unit at the thermal power plants of generating companies with a capacity of 6.455 GW were operating. Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs) had the capacity of 10.501 GW, hydroelectric power plants – 1.215 GW, combined heat and power plants – 1.009 GW and alternative energy units – 275 MW.

Ukrenergo operates Ukraine's backbone and interstate power grid and supervises the country's national grid. It is a state-owned company and is controlled by the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.
