Ukroboronprom to ensure increased production of new antitank guided weapon in 2015 - official

The Ukroboronprom State Concern will ensure that it will boost production of a new high-precision antitank guided weapon for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Deputy Director General of Ukroboronprom Serhiy Pinkas has said.

While inspecting supplies of new weapons for the military on television, he drew attention to successful tests of the new Ukrainian antitank precision-guided weapon system – the Stugna - in battle.

Pinkas said that after successful tests in battle in 2014, the state concern was ordered to boost supplies of the system to military.

"For 2015 the task to make more than four times bigger was set… It is being implemented under the schedule," he said.

The Stugna 100mm antitank precision-guided weapon system in line with NATO standards uses semi active laser beam riding guidance, and with its tandem shaped-charge warhead it is capable of penetrating 550mm+ RHA behind explosive reactive armor. The missile can engage targets up to 5,000 meters away.

It was designed by Luch Design Bureau and mass production was launched at Artem machine-building firm.
