Kolomoisky amongst ultimate beneficiaries of Ukraine's biggest airline

Renowned Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky is an ultimate beneficiary owner of the biggest national airline, Kyiv-based Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), head of the UIA Supervisory Board Aron Maiberg told Interfax-Ukraine in an interview.

"I can disclose this information if it is important. Remember what I've said: if a norm requiring this disclosure is approved, then we will make this disclosure. We have not disclosed this information for the sole reason of prompting the authorities [to approve] this norm. Indeed, Ihor Kolomoisky is amongst UIA beneficiaries. As I understand, passengers have the right to know this, and the norms of the law need to be complied with," he said.

The head of the Supervisory Board also pointed to the frequently expressed public understanding of the need to cancel the norm, which ordered the ownership of 51% stake in the airline by Ukrainian entities.

UIA was founded in 1992. It is the biggest airline in Ukraine and its home airport is in Boryspil. The UIA fleet consists of 31 aircraft, including 27 medium-haul and four long-haul vehicles.

According to the State Commission for Securities and Stock Market, Cypriot company Ontobet Promotions Limited owned 15.91% of UIA stock, and another 74.16% in the airline was owned by the Capital Investment Project LLC based in Kyiv.

Capital Investment Project was owned by Investment Projects Management LLC, which, in turn, has been owned by Ontobet Promotions Limited since June 2012.
