Ukroboronprom's enterprises make profit year-over-year

Enterprises-members of Ukroboronprom State Concern made profit between July 2014 and July 2015, the state concern has reported.

According to information presented by Ukroboronprom Head Roman Romanov at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday, the net profit of the concern's enterprises in July 2014-July 2015 totaled UAH 810 million compared to UAH 99 million of net loss a year ago.

He said that gross profit over the period grew by 11.3%, to UAH 4.9 billion, net revenue amounted to UAH 12.6 billion, and products worth UAH 11.2 billion were made.

Ukroboronprom Deputy Director General Serhiy Pinkas told reporters that the concern has experienced a positive economic effect from the restructuring of the concern's enterprises, started by the senior managers.

"When we came to the concern, 56 enterprises posted large losses. Today [after the restructuring], growth of production at the state concern's enterprises is UAH 171 million, and the planned net revenue [in 2015] is UAH 23.6 billion," he said.

Pinkas said that among the positive management solutions are the switch to the electronic procurement system: UAH 171.1 million was saved after 9,910 tenders and 2,586 new contractors were attracted thanks to the electronic trading site.

The payment monitoring system allowed the concern to save around UAH 130 million, and the new logistics system halved freight costs for containers, he said.

Ukroboronprom state concern was established in accordance with presidential decrees dated December 9 and 28, 2010, as well as under government decree No. 1221 of December 29, 2010. Ukroboronprom, jointly with the government, manages state facilities in the defense industry.

At present, 137 Ukrainian defense industry enterprises, including state-run Ukrspecexport and its subsidiaries, are members of the state concern.

Romanov has been director of the concern since July 2014.
