Ukrainian grain stocks as of April 1 33% higher than last year

Grain stocks held by agricultural enterprises in Ukraine, apart from small ones and at enterprises that store and process grain, amounted to 16.2 million tonnes as of April 1, 2015, which is 33% up year-over-year, Ukraine's State Statistics Service has said.

Wheat stocks amounted to 5.3 million tonnes, barley stocks stood at 1.2 million tonnes, corn at 8.9 million tonnes, and rye at 200,000 tonnes.

Grain reserves held by agricultural enterprises weighed in at 8.9 million tonnes as of April 1, which was 37% more than a year earlier, including 2.8 million tonnes of wheat, 900,000 tonnes of barley, 4.5 million tonnes of corn, and 100,000 tonnes of rye.

The statistics service's figures state that sunflower seed reserves amounted to 2.8 million tonnes as of April 1, which was 30% down year-over-year, including 1.7 million tonnes stored at agricultural enterprises (1.5% up year-over-year).
