Ukraine to demonstrate flexibility in talks with creditors – Jaresko

Ukraine will demonstrate flexibility when discussing the revision of conditions for the repayment of its foreign debt with holders of sovereign bonds, Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko said at the Center on the United States and Europe at the Brookings Institution on Tuesday, Voice of America has reported.

The Ukrainian government is going to contact separate creditors, including Russia, on March 18, she said.

At the same time, Jaresko said that Kyiv hadn't discussed with Moscow the possibility of the latter's participation in the debt restructuring talks.

As reported, after the IMF's decision on a $17.5 billion loan for Ukraine under the new Extended Fund Facility (EFF), Ukraine's Finance Ministry on March 13 launched consultations with creditors regarding the scheduled restructuring of the country's foreign debts. The ministry expects that the issue will be decided within two months. It is aimed to reduce foreign debt repayments by $15 billion while the EFF is in place and to boost the total bailout package for Ukraine to $40 billion due to assistance from other international donors and partner countries.

Jaresko is scheduled to hold consultations with creditors on the West and East Coasts of the United States until the end of the week, consultations are planned to be held in London next week.
