Taxpayers declare UAH 1.56 bln tax compromise in three weeks of experiment

The State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, three weeks after the law on tax compromise took effect, received 305 applications from taxpayers worth UAH 1.56 billion, State Fiscal Service Head Oleh Bilous told reporters in Kyiv on Monday.

He said that UAH 800 million of the sum is value added tax and UAH 760 million is profit tax.

He added that if the sums are confirmed, taxpayers will only pay 5%, UAH 3.5 million from VAT and UAH 2.5 million from profit tax will be paid to the national budget.

Bilous said that in general the service plans to receive UAH 1 to UAH 3 billion from the tax compromise procedure, which equals to UAH 20-60 billion of settled claims.

Director of the tax and customs audit department Natalia Ruban said that the State Fiscal Service registered tax risks in around 17,000 companies, with around 1,500 of them being bankrupt, with the unpaid VAT sum of UAH 100 billion and the profit tax sum being roughly the same.

The legislative department and the chief financial investigative department said that 6,500 cases worth UAH 8.5 billion have been opened in courts, and over 600 criminal cases are worth over UAH 3 billion.

Bilous said that the companies from this list are most active in submitting applications for tax compromise, as their participation will allow for the closing of criminal cases and court hearings. He said that 35 companies submitted their applications without claims being made by the State Fiscal Service.

Bilous said that after April 16 – the last date for submitting applications, the service will start checks at all companies where risks have been registered.
