The Ukrainian power grid is to be fully integrated into the European energy system in 2017, while today only the Burshtyn Energy Island is working in it, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.

The premier noted that it has been decided to complete two reactors at Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant and launch them in 2018.

In 2015, Ukraine plans to realize projects which will allow increasing the capacity of nuclear power plants by 3,000 MW.

"In 2015, the capacity of three NPPs will be considerably increased. We'll increase the capacity of Yuzhnoukrainsk, Zaporizhia, Khmelnytsky and Rivne NPPs. It will total around 3,000 MW. We'll finish power lines and new power grids jointly with the EBRD [the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development] and EIB [the European Investment Bank], which… will allow transmitting power from NPPs," he said.

The prime minister added that Ukraine will work on the diversification of fuel supplies to the Ukrainian NPPs.

"We leave the project Energoatom has now and we considerably expand our cooperation on the purchase of nuclear fuel for Ukrainian NPPs with Westinghouse," he said.

The tariffs for power consumption in Ukraine will be increased to the market level, Yatseniuk said.
