Novus Ukraine retailer expands chain to 27 stores in Ukraine

Novus Ukraine LLC (Kyiv), the managing company of the Novus network in the country, on October 25 will open a supermarket at 16A, Druzhby Narodiv Avenue in Kyiv, which will be the 27th store of the chain in Ukraine, the retailer said in a press release.

The retailer said that the gross area of the supermarket is over 4,000 square meters, while the retail area is 2,500 square meters.

The range of goods at the Novus supermarket, which will be the first store of the chain downtown Kyiv, includes over 40,000 items in 200 categories.

A pharmacy, a bank, a dry-cleaner's, a zoo shop and gift shops will be opened as a part of the shopping center.

Director General of Novus Ukraine L Ihor Landa told Interfax-Ukraine that the company plans to open another four stores in Kyiv by late 2013, expanding the chain to 29 in the country.

Novus Ukraine is the managing company of the Novus network in Ukraine.

The first Novus store opened in Ukraine in 2008. The trade chain consists of 27 stores in the form of shopping centers, supermarkets and hypermarkets in Kyiv, Boryspil, Sevastopol, Cherkasy, Ternopil, Rivne, and Zhytomyr. In addition to its core business, the company is engaged in goods importing and distribution in Ukraine.

The Novus supermarket chain is being developed by BT Invest (Lithuania), which was set up in 2008 by former stockholders in Sandora juice producer Raimondos Tumenas and the late Ihor Bezzub.
