Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych took part in the opening of the second stage of Ukrainian engine manufacturer Motor Sich's servicing center for aircraft engines in the Unites Arab Emirates.

"Today's event confirms the high technological potential of our country, and the ability of Ukrainian companies to compete with world leaders in exploring new promising markets," the Ukrainian president said.

According to Yanukovych, Ukraine is one of the few countries that has a complete cycle of aircraft engineering, and that is able to design spacecraft and put them into orbit.

In turn, Board Chairman of OJSC Motor Sich Viacheslav Bohuslayev said that Motor Sich's servicing center for helicopter engines opened in the UAE in 2006. So far, Ukrainian experts have been assembling and servicing helicopter engines there.

The second stage of the center will install fifth-generation engines on old helicopters. These engines can withstand temperatures up to 52 degrees and are designed to operate in hot countries.

According to Bohuslayev, the Motor Sich's center in the UAE services 25 countries in Africa and the Middle East. He announced that a helicopter with a new engine installed by Motor Sich employees would be presented in Sharjah early next year.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych is on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates on November 26-27.
