India: a Global Power in Pharmaceuticals – a reliable partner of Ukraine

Buyer Seller Meet: A Buyer Seller Meet is being organized by a visiting business delegation from Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL) on 29th November, 2018 from 10:00 to 14:00 at The Zurich Hall, The Ramada Encore Kiev. The delegation will comprise representatives from 23 Indian companies dealing in Pharmaceuticals, Nutraceuticals, Ayurveda & Herbal products. The Buyer Seller Meet will give an opportunity to the Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies to directly interact with these Indian companies. The Buyer seller meet is being organized in association with Indian Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers Association (IPMA) and Ukrainian Association Ayurveda-Yoga(UAAY).

Business Seminar : The Embassy of India in Kyiv, in association with Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL) and Indian Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers Association (IPMA), Ukraine is organizing the annual business seminar on pharmaceutical and herbal sectors “India- a Global Power in Pharmaceutical Sector: a Reliable Partner for Ukraine” on 30th November, 2018 at 16:30 hours in Kyiv at The Ramada Encore Kyiv to promote and display the potential of India in these sectors.

The event aims for exchange of commercial opportunities, statistics and services available in the pharmaceutical and herbal sectors, with an emphasis on imports and investments in Ukraine. The event will highlight the potential of the Indian pharmaceutical industry for Ukraine and the world as a whole and the holistic healthcare approach of Ayurvedic or herbal products effective for common chronic diseases and for preventive & promotive healthcare.

The Seminar will be opened with the address by Ambassador of India, H.E. Partha Satpathy, and will include presentations by Executives of IPMA, PHARMEXCIL and major Indian pharmaceutical producers operating in Ukraine.

From India, Pharmaceutical products are the biggest export to Ukraine. India is the third largest exporter of pharmaceutical products to Ukraine, after Germany and France in value terms. India’s pharma products’ exports to Ukraine amounted to US$ 135 million for the year 2017. Indian pharmaceutical companies are providing good quality medicine at very good competitive price.

India has the 3rd largest pharmaceutical industry in the world by volume. India is the largest provider of generic medicines globally and the largest vaccine producer in the world. The pharmaceutical sector was valued at US$ 33 billion in 2017. The country’s pharmaceutical industry is expected to expand at a CAGR of 22.4 per cent over 2015–20 to reach US$ 55 billion. India’s pharmaceutical exports stood at US$ 17.27 billion in 2017-18. In 2018- 19 these exports are expected to cross US$ 19 billion.

India manufactures medicines for all therapeutic categories: anti-infectious, medicines for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, anticancer drugs, for the treatment of HIV, gynecology, neurology, dermatology, for the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory diseases, analgesics, medicines for the treatment of diabetes, vitamins / minerals / food supplements, etc. India exports pharmaceutical products to more than 200 countries. The main markets are the United States, Russia, Germany, Austria, and Great Britain.

The event will be attended by about 250 honorable guests including members of Indian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (IPMA), delegates from PHARMEXCIL; representatives of the Indian pharmaceutical companies based in Ukraine etc.
