Ukrainians most often express a positive attitude towards Lithuania (91%), Latvia (90.5%), the UK (90%), Germany (89%), Estonia (89%), Canada (88%) and the United States (87%), according to the results of a sociological survey conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Center from January 19 to January 25 and presented at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.

Also, according to the results of the study, Ukrainians have a positive attitude towards France (86%), the Czech Republic (86%), Poland (86%), the Netherlands (83%), Moldova (81%), Japan (74%), Georgia (72%), Israel (65%), Romania (64%), Azerbaijan (61%), Armenia (57.5%), Slovakia (56%) and Türkiye (55.5%) also have a predominantly positive attitude.

As for India, the proportions of those who have a positive view of it (37%) and those who have a negative view (40%) are not statistically significantly different.

Negative attitudes are most often expressed towards the Russian Federation (95% of respondents have a negative attitude), Belarus (87%), Iran (82%), China (72.5%), and Hungary (59%).

A negative attitude towards the Russian Federation is expressed by the overwhelming majority of residents of all macro-regions of Ukraine – from 91% of residents of the East to 98.5% of residents of the West. Among those who communicate at home primarily in Ukrainian, 97% have a negative attitude towards the Russian Federation; among those who communicate in Russian – 92.5%.

The study was conducted as part of the Get Joined! Community Engagement Program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The survey was conducted face-to-face among 2,000 adult respondents in government-controlled areas where there is no fighting. The structure of the sample population reproduces the demographic structure of the adult population of the territories where the survey was conducted as of the beginning of 2022 (by age, gender, type of settlement). The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%. Additional systematic sampling biases are possible, in particular due to the evacuation of citizens.
