Upcoming 12th EU sanctions package includes measures to suppress Russia's ability to produce missiles, drones - Kuleba
The upcoming 12th package of EU sanctions includes an important element - measures aimed at suppressing the Russian Federation's ability to produce missiles and drones, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.
"Four important decisions are in the pipeline. The sanctions package that Josep mentioned - we appreciate the ongoing efforts. I would like to highlight one specific element of this sanctions proposal, namely measures aimed at suppressing Russia's ability to produce missiles and drones. Some of these measures are already included in the package and we look forward to their adoption by member states," Kuleba said at a joint briefing with EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell in Brussels.
Also, as Kuleba noted, a decision is expected on the use of frozen Russian assets in order to restore Ukraine. The third topic, as the minister indicated, is the decision to launch a new Ukrainian fund to provide macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.
"But first of all - the first and most important thing - is, of course, the decision to open negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. And I can confirm that Josep and I discussed this issue in detail," the Foreign Minister said.
He added that work continues with Member States to reach this decision.
On X (Twitter), Kuleba said that they "also discussed in detail my proposal to create a pan-European Defense Industries Area with EU members, candidates, and like-minded countries joining efforts in defense production."
