European Union able to maintain value leadership in world

The European Union has repeatedly proven that it is capable of overcoming crises and is capable of maintaining value leadership in the world, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video message on Wednesday.
He recalled that "November 1 is actually celebrated as the birth of the European Union. Thirty years ago, the Maastricht Treaty came into force, laying the foundations of modern European unity."
"There was a lot of opposition to a united Europe, a lot of despondency about a united Europe. And to this day, anti-European politics is a fairly vocal part of the political spectrum in different countries. In particular, in those countries whose Euro-optimism is critical for maintaining peace and normal order in Europe and the world," the president noted.
But, he added, "the European Union has proven more than once that it is capable of overcoming crises, capable of maintaining value leadership in the world, capable of becoming stronger when Europe's enemies expect only weakness from it."
"We value our Europe, a Europe of interaction, not disputes, a Europe of people, not ideology, because only in this way is our continent able to defend and protect human life both in European countries and in the world," the president said
I am confident, he noted, that "Ukraine will make our Europe stronger than ever, and we are working as actively as possible. So that there is no obstacle left to our entry into the European Union."
"And I am also confident that no matter how events develop in the world, with our other partners, both in America and anywhere else, unity will still prevail. Unity, not division. Unity, not calls for self-isolation," Zelenskyy said.
