Ukraine tax authorities file charges against Tymoshenko

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has been charged as part of a criminal investigation into the operations of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine corporation, which was re-opened by the Tax Police Main Department of Ukraine's State Tax Service, the service said in a press release on Friday.
"On November 10, the Main Investigative Department of Ukraine's State Tax Service charged Tymoshenko with arranging to conceal currency revenue of more than $165 million, embezzling budget funds and avoiding the payment of over UAH 47 million in taxes by introducing a financial scheme concerning settlements for commodity and material valuables by the United Energy Systems of Ukraine corporation and concealing proceeds with the help of offshore companies," it said.
