Poland's Defense Minister presents NATO with project for peacekeeping mission in Ukraine

Polish Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak presented a project to create a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine at a meeting of NATO defense ministers, the press service of the Polish government reports.

"We discussed the steps to be taken to stop the Russian invasion. For my part, I presented the project that Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński spoke about yesterday during his visit to Kyiv. I presented this project to the allies so that they consider the issue of whether it is possible and how to form a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. Let me remind you that such a mission is being carried out in Kosovo. Of course, this is not easy, this issue will be discussed, but it is laid out on the table," he said following the meeting on Wednesday.

He stressed that there is unity in NATO in assessing Russian aggression against Ukraine.

"This unity also applies to the assessment that Belarus is taking part in this aggression, allowing shelling Ukrainian cities from its territory. Today we could hear that NATO speaks with one voice when it comes to supporting Ukraine," the minister added.

Blaszczak said that Poland will continue to support Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.

"Our position is known and unequivocal. Ukraine must be supported because it is our neighbor. Twenty kilometers from the Polish border, bombs fell on a training center in Yavoriv. On Sunday, I spoke about this during my speech, so we have a war on the borders of Poland. Our task is to support the neighbors affected by Russian aggression. Sanctions against Russia should be as tough as possible," he said.
