Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak thanked Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid for a fair decision and a right position not to circumvent sanctions against the Russian Federation.

"Israel showed a clear understanding of the situation and commitment to the just cause. We are grateful to Yair Lapid for the fair decision and the right position," Yermak wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said that "Israel will not become a route to bypass Western sanctions against Russia," The Times of Israel reported on Monday.

"Israel will not be a route to bypass sanctions imposed on Russia by the United States and other western countries," Lapid said on Monday.

He noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating on this issue with the Central Bank of Israel, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and other structures.

Lapid also reiterated Israel's readiness to contribute to a peaceful resolution of the problem.

"Israel will do everything it can to assist mediation efforts, to stop the shooting and restore peace," the Foreign Minister said, adding that Israel is working together with the United States and European countries.
