The city of Trostyanets in Sumy region is completely occupied by the aggressor, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Dmytro Zhyvytsky has said, citing information from Chairman of Trostyanets community Yuriy Bova.

"As of March 1, three Russian columns entered Trostyanets from different sides and completely occupied the city. They demolished the gates to the Round Yard with a tank, smashed the art gallery," he said.

Almost all power lines in the city are damaged, all roads are broken. "The Russians go door-to-door, get people out of basements, make them sit outside at night. They are afraid of airstrikes, they are afraid of our artillery," Zhyvytsky said.

"I want to say that the city authorities are working. Even in such conditions. We are supplying people with food, bread is being baked. Territorial defense is working," the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration wrote.

At the same time, the Ukraiyinska Pravda publication said, citing its sources, that on Wednesday night, Russian equipment, hiding from the shelling of Ukrainian Bayraktar drones, seized part of the enterprises in Trostyanets.

"Trostyanets is in fact now captured, the defense is fighting, but several columns of heavy equipment have entered the city. They are hiding behind civilians. Artillery and Bayraktar drones are working on them outside the city, and now they have actually disappeared behind the civilian population," the publication quoted the source.
