Ukrainian govt, local authorities moving to new level of cooperation in implementation of various projects in 2021 – President's Office

In 2021, the Ukrainian government is moving to a new level of project implementation in cooperation with local authorities, a goal is set to build 4,500 km of state roads and 2,000 km of local roads, Deputy Head of the President's Office, coordinator of Big Construction program Kyrylo Tymoshenko said.

During a meeting of the Council for the Development of Communities and Territories, Tymoshenko noted that in 2020 the state and local authorities made a breakthrough in the number of infrastructure facilities built as part of the President's Big Construction program.

"This year, together we must not only maintain a high standard, but also move to a new level of projects. At least 4,500 km of national roads, so that Ukrainians can travel to each other and learn more about their country. This is our goal for this year. Some 2,000 km of local roads – exactly those on which the majority of the population, not living in large regional centers, travels. We will build new and reconstruct existing schools, kindergartens, and sports facilities," he said.

In addition, Tymoshenko said, it is in cooperation with local authorities that a number of projects planned for 2021 will be implemented. It concerns, among other things, about the Great Restoration of the cultural heritage, and the development of regional airports.

"We are launching the reconstruction of regional airports so that everyone can fly. Fly to Kyiv on business, fly to Odesa and Kherson at sea, to the Carpathians in winter to ski resorts, and most importantly - to Ukrainian resorts. This year we are starting to update the runways in Zhytomyr, Rivne, Chernivtsi, Poltava, Kryvy Rih and many other cities of Ukraine," he said.

Tymoshenko said that the construction of a large medical town in Kramatorsk will also begin in 2021, and in a few months the reconstruction and delivery of medical equipment to 200 admission departments in hospitals throughout Ukraine will be completed.

"The most important thing is that we overwhelmingly work with you together. And when everything works out, everyone will benefit from this - the central government, local authorities, and most importantly – Ukrainians in every corner of our country," he addressed the representatives of local self-government.
