Presidents of Ukraine and Turkey, Petro Poroshenko and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, are in favor of further developing strategic cooperation between the countries.

"Negotiations have shown a high level of mutual understanding and effective overcoming of any obstacles that we are removing today in the economic, political, humanitarian and social spheres of relations between our states. Under the present conditions, priority was given to security issues, military-technical cooperation," Poroshenko said following the 7th meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council on Saturday in Istanbul.

In turn, Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted that after the creation of the Strategic Council of the High Level, the bilateral relations between Ukraine and Turkey have reached the level of strategic partnership. "Thanks to this, we are strengthening our relations each year and will continue to strengthen them," he convinced.

He also said that at that meeting of the strategic council, it was decided to complete work on the signing of an agreement on a free trade zone between Ukraine and Turkey before the end of 2018.

"We believe that due to this, we will achieve the goal - the trade turnover in the amount of $10 billion," Erdogan noted.

This document will be our "roadmap" for the next meeting, which will be held in Kyiv," Erdogan said.
