Poroshenko to visit UNGA in Sept, no meeting with Trump planned

Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly has said that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko plans to visit New York in September and take part in the meeting of the UN General Assembly. No bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump is planned today.

"There are plans regarding the participation of the president… I hope that this year we would have this visit," Chaly said at the press club of the 13th meeting of heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine in Kyiv on Monday.

The diplomat added that it is planned that Poroshenko would deliver a speech at the UNGA, hold some bilateral meetings, in particular, with investors, business and diaspora.

Asked about the possibility of holding a bilateral meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and the United States Chaly said that this meeting is not planned today, but one way or another notes should be compared… I think that there would not be a one hour meeting."

He said that the Ukrainian diplomatic mission is preparing a meeting of the Foreign Minister of Ukraine and the U.S. Secretary of State.
