Yatseniuk instructs Infrastructure Ministry to assess if flights to Egypt are safe for Ukrainians

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk has instructed the Infrastructure Ministry to assess whether flights to Egyptian airports are safe for Ukrainian citizens in connection with the recent plane crash in the region, the media liaisons department of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reported.

"If possible threats to the lives of Ukrainian citizens are proved to be factual, the prime minister ordered the immediate study of a temporary ban of flights to the given region," reads the report.

On October 31, Metrojet Flight 9268 flying from Sharm-el-Sheik to St Petersburg crashed shortly after takeover over the Sinai. All 214 on board were killed, including four Ukrainians.

The Britain government then announced that the crash was caused by a bomb stowed away before takeoff. Both Britain and Ireland subsequently suspended flights to and from the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh in response.
