Members of Counting Chamber to be selected by contest, appointed by Verkhovna Rada – law

Members of the Counting Chamber will be selected by contest and appointed by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Dmitry Shymkiv told journalists while speaking about the relevant law which was signed by the president.

"We finally put the laws on the Counting Chamber straight in accordance with the Constitution," he said.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration said that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the bill on July 2. It is part of Ukraine's obligations to the IMF, World Bank and the EU.

According to Shymkiv, the Counting Chamber will control not only expenses but also budget income. In addition, the law regulates the issues of controlling the Counting Chamber.

Shymkiv also said that the number of seats in the Chamber dropped from 14 to nine, and according to the new law, new members of the chamber can already be elected, as the current members' term of office has already come to an end.
