The daily shelling continues, destroying vital water supply infrastructure in the Donetsk region, the press service of the Voda Donbasa water supply company has reported.

The third-stage pumping station of the Pivdennodonbasky water pipeline was damaged on February 2, it said.

"This water pipeline ceased to function on January 26 following power cuts to the third-stage pumping station and damage to the pressure manifolds, which disabled the Krasnoarmiiska and Velykoanadolska filtering stations supplying water to Volnovakha, Dokuchayivsk, Vuhledar, Krasnoarmiisk, Dymytrov, Selydove, Hirnyk, Ukrayinsk, Novohrodivka, Bilytske and the neighboring villages. Repair teams of the Donetskoblenergo regional energy company and of Voda Donbasu have been unable to reach the damaged pipeline amid the continuing fighting, the company said.

The Donetsk filtering station, located in the combat zone near Avdiyivka and Yasynuvata, is not functioning, either. Avdiyivka, Krasnohorivka, the Yasynuvata district and parts of Donetsk and Yasynuvata remain without water.

The company also said that more than 830,000 people lost access to water after the Donetska, Velykoanadolska and Krasnoarmiiska filtering stations were disabled. Repair work cannot begin at the Pavlopilska first-stage pumping station, left without power after a shelling attack, the company's press service said.

It said a shell hit an electric power line, cutting electricity to the Tsentralny water supply system in Donetsk which sends water to the Voroshylovsky and part of the Kyivsky and Kalininsky districts.
