Zaporizhia nuclear power plant (NPP) plans to connect reactor three to the Ukrainian power grid at 2300 on December 5, 2014, National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

The company said that the application for the corrective maintenance of the reactor was submitted from 1924 November 28, 2014 to 2300 December 5, 2014. The reactor is in the stage of stoppage for tests.

As reported, reactor three of Zaporizhia NPP at 1924 on November 28, 2014 disconnected from the power grid. The reason of the disconnection is the damage of winding of the transformer for own needs of the reactor. The automated reactor protection system was turned on in line with the projected algorithm.

"The reactor was switched to the cool state without remarks. There are no radiation consequences," the company said.

Energoatom is the operator of all four Ukrainian-based operating nuclear power plants, which have 15 VVER reactors with an overall generating capacity of 13.835 gigawatts.
