Kyiv to demand Moscow name servicemen who launched missile at Malaysian airliner - SBU chief

Ukraine is planning to demand that Russia name the three Russian servicemen who directly launched a missile at a civilian plane of Malaysia Airlines in Donetsk region on Thursday, Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) Chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko has said.

"It is most important for us to get, including through international institutions (during a hearing at special UN and OSCE meetings), from the Russian side the names of all three crewmembers - Russian servicemen – who directly managed a Buk anti-aircraft missile system and directly pressed the trigger and launched a missile against a civilian passenger aircraft," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

Nalyvaichenko said that this was a key detail required to hold both a Ukrainian and international investigation.

"This was documented, and we are interested in the names of concrete Russian servicemen for a further objective investigation," he said.

"It is important to publish all evidence related to the criminal actions of border guards and the Border Service of the Russian FSB who contributed and transported from their side of the border a very dangerous missile system that was now used against civilians from Europe, Malaysia, Indonesia and other countries," he said.
