Regions Party sees no need to change amnesty law

The leader of the Regions Party faction in parliament, Oleksandr Yefremov, has said he does not consider it necessary to change the law on amnesties for protesters adopted in the Verkhovna Rada on January 29.

"Today they say: let us repeal this document today, let is vote for another one. I will consult with faction members. In my opinion, decent people, especially those who hold talks on behalf of political forces, don't behave like this," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.

Yefremov said that the parliament had passed the amnesty law authored by Yuriy Miroshnychenko, which had previously been agreed upon by the leaders of all factions.

He said that at the last moment the opposition said that it would not support the document.
