The opposition has prepared a draft constitutional act on returning to the constitution of 2004 and is ready to vote for it in the session hall on Tuesday, Batkivschyna faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.

"We, as the Ukrainian opposition, have prepared a constitutional act on returning to the constitution of 2004, and this document should be voted on by the entire composition of parliament," he said at a meeting of the conciliatory council of the heads of parliamentary committees and factions in Kyiv on Monday.

He asked Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Rybak to hold a meeting to discuss how the document will be considered in the session hall.

"We are appealing to you to gather us together now in your office to discuss how we will hold a vote tomorrow on a constitutional act on restoring the sovereignty of the people and constitutional order in the country, on returning to the constitution of 2004 [envisaging a parliamentary-presidential form of government], canceling the dictatorial powers of the president and transferring to the Ukrainian people through the Ukrainian parliament the right to govern their own country," he said.
