The main investigation department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine has included in the unified register of pretrial investigations the information about Serhiy Vlasenko's committing unlawful actions in relation to his ex-wife, Natalia Okunska.

Vlasenko's actions are qualified under Part 2, Article 146 of the Criminal Code (unlawful arrest or kidnapping), the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported.

The criminal proceedings are being investigated by the main investigation department of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Vlasenko is a defense lawyer of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

Part 2, Article 146 of the Criminal Code (unlawful arrest or kidnapping) concerns actions committed against a minor or for selfish motives, with respect to two or more persons, through preliminary collusion by a group of persons or in a manner dangerous to the life or health of the victim, accompanied by the infliction of physical suffering, the use of weapons, or actions lasting for a long time. Such actions are punished by restraint of liberty for up to five years, or imprisonment for the same term.

As reported, in March 2013, the Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine stripped Vlasenko of his deputy mandate.

Criminal proceedings were launched against Vlasenko on suspicion of his allegedly causing bodily harm to his ex-wife, Okunska.

In November 2013, Kyiv's Pechersky District Court chose the measure of restraint for Vlasenko in the form of almost UAH 23,000 bail.

This case is currently being considered by Pechersky District Court.
