Vlasenko involved in PGO's investigatory proceedings, decision on arrest not made – Yatseniuk

The head of the Batkivschyna parliamentary faction, Arseniy Yatseniuk, has said that the Prosecutor General's Office is holding investigatory proceedings against the defense counsel of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Serhiy Vlasenko.

"I've just talked [by phone] to the deputy prosecutor, who said that they are holding investigatory proceedings, while a procedural decision has not been made," Yatseniuk said at an unscheduled meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement.

Yatseniuk said that he raised the issue so seriously with the hope that this would help to set Vlasenko free from the PGO and prevent his arrest.

Vlasenko's lawyer Mykola Tytarenko told an Interfax-Ukraine reporter that Vlasenko was summoned to the prosecutor's office in connection with criminal proceedings on an appeal by Vlasenko's ex-wife Natalia Okunska.

Asked if Vlasenko had been arrested, Tytarenko said that Vlasenko has not left the building of the prosecutor's office.
