Vlasenko didn't give evidence, interrogation scheduled for Tuesday, says defense lawyer

Defense counsel of former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Serhiy Vlasenko, has not given evidence in the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, his defense lawyer Oleksandr Plakhotniuk has said.

"Serhiy Vlasenko has exercised his right and requested a confidential meeting with his lawyer and some time to prepare for the questioning. So, there has been no interrogation today," Plakhotniuk said.

According to him, the interrogation is scheduled for 1400 on Tuesday.

Plakhotniuk said the charges put forward against his client were contrived and absurd.

"The charges are contrives and absurd as is everything that is happening with the people who are involved in the legal defense of Tymoshenko. Everything that was stated in the notice is not true. These facts are fictitious, and there is no evidence to back them," Plakhotniuk said.

Earlier, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported that Vlasenko was interrogated in the presence of witnesses.

Ex-MP Vlasenko received a notice that he was suspected of causing bodily harm to his ex-wife Natalia Okunska.

The prosecutor's office stressed that they were not considering Vlasenko's arrest. The court is more likely to choose bail, as a preventive measure against him.

Vlasenko spent more than six hours in the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office on Tuesday, the press service of the Batkivschyna party reported.
