Cox, Kwasniewski hope Rada will adopt all necessary European integration bills on November 19

Members of the European Parliament's mission, former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and former European Parliament President Pat Cox, have expressed the hope that the Verkhovna Rada will adopt all the necessary European integration bills at its sitting on November 19.

"Today we have met with the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, the leaders of the Party of Regions and the leaders of the opposition, and we understand that today it has not been possible to adopt the laws that are necessary for the signing of the association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union at the end of this month," Kwasniewski said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

He noted that a working group was formed to prepare a bill that would allow former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to receive medical treatment of abroad.

"We expect that all these matters will be resolved within the several days that remain before the next session of parliament, which will take place on November 19, so that the parliament could pass its final decision on November 19," he said.

Kwasniewski said that November 19 was the deadline for Ukraine to do what needed to be done.

"We understand that all this is politically very difficult, but we hope that there will be enough good will to find a consensus and that everyone who wants to sign an association with the EU will do everything possible to ensure that the Verkhovna Rada passes all of the necessary laws on Tuesday," he said.
