1 min read

The memorial plaque to Pyotr Stolypin, who was interior minister and prime minister of the Russian Empire in 1906-1911, which went missing from Honchara Street in Kyiv, was stolen, a source in Kyiv City Administration told Interfax-Ukraine.

The authorities intend to report this matter to the law enforcement agencies as soon as possible.

According to earlier reports, the memorial plaque was unveiled in Kyiv on the 150th anniversary of Stolypin's death in Kyiv in September 2011. Several months later, the plaque was damaged by vandals. The Russian embassy condemned the act of vandalism and sent a protest note to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, hoping for an appropriate reaction from the Ukrainian authorities.

On July 29, the memorial plaque disappeared. There is no sign of vandalism where the plaque was located. It appears to have been carefully removed from the wall, which was not damaged.
