Kyivavtodor to finish road repairs by Day of Kyiv

Kyivavtodor municipal corporation has vowed to finish repairing potholes on roads of municipal and regional significance by May 9, and by the Day of Kyiv to complete all maintenance work.

As Director General of the Kyivavtodor Petro Berehovy reported at the press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday, that since the start of 2013 over 96,000 square meters of pothole-damaged roads have been identified, but March's heavy snowfall caused extra damage on another 20,000 square meters.

"At the collegium of Kyiv City State Administration we proposed to allocate extra funds for road maintenance," he said.

As Berehovy reported, in general about 118,000 square meters of Kyiv roads was have pothole damage, and as of today 69,000 square meters has been repaired.

The Kyivavtodor director said that the repair jobs would be also conducted at night when the temperature is at least five degrees above zero 24 hours a day.

Moreover, Berehovy said that UAH 15.7 million was allocated in 2012 or current repairs of Kyiv roads, and about 6.6% of the necessary work has been done.

He reminded that the operating lives of 85% of Kyiv's roads have been 15-30 years, which is 1.5-3 times more than the standard operating life.
