Authorities to promote such candidates like Medvedchuk or Khoroshkovsky for presidential elections, says Lutsenko
Ex-interior minister of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko said in an interview with Gazeta.ua that the opposition factions Batkivschyna, UDAR and Svoboda are a good team game, the press service of People's Self-Defense Party has reported.
"It's extremely important under conditions in which a mafia armed with stolen billions and ready to confront the security and law enforcement agencies. Moreover, it has to be admitted: each of the leaders of the opposition factions owns just a part of the leader matrix now. One could see it in those difficult times when they put up opposition during the elections to the Verkhovna Rada. Fortunately, … the opposition now has a mutually complementary set of [characteristics of] resoluteness, competitiveness and charisma," the politician said.
According to Lutsenko, in 2013 three opposition leaders Yatseniuk, Klitschko and Tiahnybok will not come to an agreement about a single candidate at the presidential elections.
"A part of this and probably a part of the next year must be spent on showing the results of each of the three opposition parties. In this time the voters and [my] colleagues from the opposition will be able to assess the chances of the leaders of Batkivschyna, UDAR and Svoboda on the basis of the definite achievements of these political forces. Time will show which of them is the most effective national leader," Lutsenko said.
However, the politician said former Premier Yulia Tymoshenko should not be forgotten. In his opinion, Tymoshenko will be able to contribute to the campaign.
"In addition to Klitschko, Yatseniuk and Tiahnybok, Poroshenko will be an important part of the opposition field, with serious potential. On the opposite part of the election field will be the force of the Yanukovych 'family.' Using the security and law enforcement agencies, they will do everything possible and impossible to promote candidates like Medvedchuk or Khoroshkovsky," the ex-minister said.
